Balthazar's Pendulum
[skill]Balthazar's Pendulum[/skill]
My proposal to help it out.
5 E 1/4 C 1 R
Elite Enchantment Spell. For 5...30 seconds the next time target ally would be knocked down by a foe, that foe is knocked down instead and takes 50...250 holy damage.
So whatcha think?

i had the idea of instead of 50....250 more like 15...60
Since if someone got hit for that much they would be at half hitpoints
So keep it at the level of balance

Meh. If you dont kd the person you dont take damage. Make'em pay for it. It could be like the new tainted for a kd heavy meta.

I'd add:
If this spell ends normally (expires because of time), one enemy nearby is knocked down.

How about, instead of added damage, add another effect:
"...the next time target ally would be knocked down, or is the target of a touch skill, the skill used fails and that foe is knocked down instead."

I'd say it needs to work both ways. If target foe is knocked down, then you are knocked down. Afterall Pendulum's work both ways. The point is that you wouldn't cast it on someone who is getting pumbled by meteor storm.

How about:
For X seconds, the next time target ally would be knocked down by a foe, that foe's entire party is knocked down instead.
or
For X seconds, the next time target ally would be knocked down by a foe, that foe is knocked down instead and all adjacent foes suffer from Blindness for 1...8 seconds.
At least then you can stop some melee spikes with it, or entire spikes with the party being knocked down

That would basically be an instakill on a warrior with Frenzy. 250 is too much. Knockdowns are too common for such a heavy penalty (when's the last time you've seen a warrior without Bull's Strike, exept those gay SS/DB/FM energy denial machines).

Since we seem to be making a list of possiblities here.. how about this.
For XX seconds, every time an ally would be knocked down 2 nearby foes are knocked down instead.
Party wide affect would be interesting, and the name has always made me think of judgement, so adding the extra punishment rather than a one on one exchange would be fun to watch.
But that's just my two cents

It'd be nice if it'd affect your entire party something like aegis...it'd be a really useful skill that way

For 5...19 seconds the next 1..3 the next time target ally would be knocked down by a foe, adjacent foes to the ally are knocked down and take 30...120 holy damage.
Pulled a lot of the numbers out of nowhere, but i think scaling the number of knock downs the ally can take would be interesting, as most anti KD spells atm only stop one KD (excluding ward of stability).

I'd change it to:
Balthazar's Pendulum
E:5 C:1/4 R:7
Elite Enchantment Spell. For 5...17...20 seconds, any time target ally would be knocked down by a foe, that foe and all adjacent foes are knocked down for 4 seconds instead.

Party-wide KD immunity would be way overpowered.
I'd like something along the lines of:
For 5...10 seconds, the next 1...3 times target ally would be knocked down, you gain 2..10 energy, and one nearby foe is knocked down instead

Absolutely not. Ward of stability already do that, is non elite and unremovable. So... I don't agree with you.
I would like Balthazar pendulum be party wide, with 15 energy 11 sec duration and 20 sec recharge.
Because it is elite.
Because it is in Smite Prayers, so you will have to spec a monk in smite to use it correctly (interesting skillbars could emerge from this).
Because as an enchantment it can be removed. So if you believe that this enchantment will save you from a spike you're dreaming awake, as your target will be debuffed by mass disenchant prior to the spike so it won't work.

I was gonna say that Sli Ander's idea was good but ,Tenshi's is even better.
How the skill is now its completely stupid, you gotta remember this is an elite skill, so you are taking away an elite from someone else.
But yes ,this skill remade to something where it has:
A 30 second recharge but last ~20 seconds or a 20 second recharge but last ~10-12 seconds.
A 1 second cast time ( it has to be able to be interruptible by any decent ranger or mesmer)
It being a enchantment.
It being an elite AND it being in smite line would make it not broken.
And indeed as glountz said very interesting build

After some extra thinking how about this:
Make BP work just like Shield of Judgement, but instead of working against melee attacks, make it work against spells that target the enchanted person.

winterclaw..... no..... than balthazar's pendulum becomes a totally different skill and loses its point. currently its a semi prot skill in smite which i think is kinda cool, you make it like shield for spells, 1 its broken and 2 its sheild.
